1)
Power (POWER)
-
Press
the Power button to turn the unit on. Press again to turn it off.
2) Audio Tone Adjust (AUDIO)
- The Audio Tone Adjust button allows you
to adjust the tone balance and the speaker output. Pressing the Audio Tone
Adjust button allows you to cycle through the following adjustable levels:
- Bass: Allows you to adjust the
lower, bass frequencies of your radio to your preference. Press the Audio
Tone Adjust button repeatedly until the Digital Display (3) shows 'BASS'.
Press the Volume Control + button (14) to increase the bass level, or the
Volume Control - button (14) to decrease the bass level. Note: If your audio
system is equipped with the Graphic Equalizer,
the bass control will be overridden, unless the Defeat button has been pressed.
- Treble: Allows you to adjust
the higher, treble frequencies of your radio to your preference. Press the
Audio Tone Adjust button repeatedly until the Digital Display (3) shows
'TREB'. Press the Volume Control + button (14) to increase the treble level,
or the Volume Control - button (14) to decrease the treble level. Note:
If your audio system is equipped with the Graphic
Equalizer, the treble control will be overridden, unless the Defeat
button has been pressed.
- Balance: Allows you to adjust
the speaker balance to the left or right. Press the Audio Tone Adjust button
repeatedly until the Digital Display (3) shows 'BAL'.
Press the Volume Control + button (14) to shift the sound to the right
speakers, or the
Volume Control - button (14) to shift the sound to the left speakers.
- Fade: Allows you to adjust the
speaker balance to the front or rear speakers. Press the Audio Tone Adjust
button repeatedly until the Digital Display (3) shows 'FADE'.
Press the Volume Control + button (14) to shift the sound to the front
speakers, or the
Volume Control - button (14) to shift the sound to the rear speakers.
- Note: Bars will illuminate on the Digital Display
(3) to
represent the levels of bass, treble, and the positions of balance and fade
functions. The bar display will return to the normal volume level after five
seconds.
3) Digital Display
- Displays all the information relevant
to the radio and cassette player.
4) AM/FM Band Selector (AM/FM)
- Press to select between AM and FM
frequencies and preset stations. Press once to switch from the 5 AM presets
to the first 5 FM presets. Press again to switch to the last 5 FM presets.
Press again to return to the 5 AM presets. The selected presets will appear
on the Digital Display (3) as 'AM', 'FM1', or 'FM2'.
5) Cassette Opening
- Location for inserting the cassette
tape. Insert one cassette with the open edge to the right. If the power is
on when inserted, the cassette will
automatically begin play. The Digital Display (3) will show a '<<' or
'>>' depending on which side of the cassette is playing. In either
case, when the cassette reaches the end, the unit will automatically switch
sides and begin playing on the opposite side.
6) Scan (SCAN)
- When listening to the radio, pressing the
Scan button enters
the station scan mode for selecting radio stations. When pressed, 'SCN' will appear on the Digital Display
(3). Pressing
the Seek '>' button (11) will begin the scan mode up the frequency
band, stopping on each listenable station for a 5 second sampling. To stop
the scan mode on the presently sampled station, press the Seek '>'
button (11) again, or the Scan button. Pressing the Seek '<'
button (11) will begin the scan mode down the frequency band, stopping on
each listenable station for a 5 second sampling. To stop the scan mode on
the presently sampled station, press the Seek '<' button (11) again,
or the Scan button.
7) Fast Wind (<</REV)
- Allows you to either fast forward or
rewind the cassette depending on which side of the cassette is playing. If
the Digital Display (3) shows '<<' as the play symbol, pressing this
button will fast forward the cassette. If the Digital Display (3) shows
'>>' as the play symbol, pressing this button will rewind the
cassette. The cassette will continue to fast wind until the opposite Fast
Wind >> button (8) is momentarily pressed. Pressing this button at the
same time with the opposite Fast Wind >> button (8) will switch play
to the other side of the cassette tape.
8) Fast Wind (>>/ERSE)
- Allows you to either fast forward or
rewind the cassette depending on which side of the cassette is playing. If
the Digital Display (3) shows '<<' as the play symbol, pressing this
button will rewind the cassette. If the Digital Display (3) shows '>>'
as the play symbol, pressing this button will fast forward the cassette. The
cassette will continue to fast wind until the opposite Fast Wind button
<< (7) is momentarily pressed. Pressing this button at the same time
with the opposite Fast Wind << button (7) will switch play to the
other side of the cassette tape.
9) Automatic Music Search (AMS)
- The Automatic Music Search button can
be used along with the Fast Wind buttons (7 & 8) to fast forward or
rewind to the beginning of a music selection. If the Digital Display (3)
shows '<<' as the play symbol, press and hold the Automatic Music
Search button. Then press the Fast Wind >> button (8) to automatically
rewind to the beginning of the current selection, or the Fast Wind <<
button (7) to automatically fast forward to the beginning of the next
selection. If the Digital Display (3) shows '>>' as the play symbol,
press and hold the Automatic Music Search button. Then press the Fast Wind
<< button (7) to automatically rewind to the beginning of the current
selection, or the Fast Wind >> button (8) to automatically fast
forward to the beginning of the next selection.

- The Automatic Music Search button can also be used along with the
Seek buttons (11) as an alternative mode of selecting radio frequencies.
10) Tape Eject (EJECT)
- Press the Eject button to stop play,
eject the cassette tape, and resume radio operation of the audio system.
11) Seek (SEEK </>)
- This allows you to automatically select
listenable stations up or down the frequency band. Press the Seek >
button to select the next listenable station up the frequency band. Press
the Seek < button to select the next listenable station down the
frequency band. The Seek buttons can also be used along with the Scan
button (6) as an alternative mode of selecting radio frequencies.

- To manually tune frequencies first
press the Automatic Music Search button (9). In this mode you can change the
radio frequency up or down one increment at a time (FM changes in increments
of 200kHz, AM changes in increments on 10 kHz). Within 5 seconds, press the
the Seek > button to increment the frequency or the Seek < button to
decrement the frequency. To change frequencies faster, press and hold either
Seek button.
12) Clock (CLOCK)
- Press to alternate the clock
display and the radio frequency display on the
Digital Display (3). In clock mode, pressing any radio function will
automatically display the radio frequency for approximately ten seconds,
then will change back to the clock display.

- To set the clock on the Digital Display
(3), turn the radio on, then press and hold the Clock button and press the
left Seek '<'
button (11) to set the hours, or the right Seek '>' button (11) to set the
minutes. The is no A.M. or P.M..
13) Preset Memory Buttons (1-5)
- The radio is equipped with 5 Preset
Memory buttons. These buttons can be used to select up to 5 preset AM
stations and 10 FM stations. To select a preset station, first select the
desired AM, FM1, or FM2 frequency band by pressing the AM/FM Band Selector
button (4). Then select one of the Preset Memory buttons which has stored
your desired station.

- To set these buttons to the desired
station:
- Select either the AM or FM band by
pushing the AM/FM Band Selector (4). Push the button to access the first 5
AM presets (Digital Display (3) indicates 'AM'), again to access the
first 5 FM presets (Digital Display (3) indicates 'FM1'), and a third
time to access the last 5 FM presets (Digital Display (3) indicates
'FM2').
- Tune to the desired frequency using
Seek (11), or Scan (6) tuning.
- Press one of the memory buttons and
hold down for about 2 seconds until the sound returns. That station is now
held in memory on that button.
- Follow the first three steps above
for each Preset Memory button you want to set.
The Preset Memory '3' Button is also
used during cassette play to switch the Dolby B Noise Reduction feature on or
off. If a cassette tape has been recorded using Dolby B Noise Reduction, this
feature can be used for best sound reproduction. A Dolby insignia will be
displayed on the Digital Display when this feature is on.
14) Volume Control (VOL +/-)
- Press the + side of the Volume Control
button to increase the volume. Press the - side of the Volume Control button
to decrease the volume. Bars will illuminate on the Digital Display (3) to
represent the volume level. Note: If the volume level is set above a certain
listening level when the ignition is turned off, when the ignition is turned
back on, the volume will come back on at a nominal listening level. However,
if the unit power is turned off with the Power button (1), the volume will
remain at the level it was set at when the unit power is turned back on.
