Compact Disc Player

 

 

1) Disc Opening

Location for inserting the compact disc. Insert one disc label side up. When inserted, the disc will automatically load into the unit and begin play at the beginning of the first track. The Play Indicator will illuminate, Track Selection will read '1', and Elapsed Track Time will read '0:00' all on the Digital Display (2). When the disc reaches the end, the Compact Disc Player will automatically return to the beginning of the disc and resume playing.

2) Digital Display

Displays all the information relevant to the radio and disc player.

3) Disc Eject (EJ or EJECT)

Press the Eject button to stop play, eject the disc, and resume radio operation of the audio system. You can eject the disc while the unit power and/or ignition is on or off. If the disc is ejected from the Compact Disc Player, but is not removed from the Disc Opening (1) within 10 seconds, the player will automatically reload the disc for storage.

4) Play/Pause or Play/Stop (PLAY/PAUSE or PLAY/STOP)

When a disc is loaded, the unit will automatically enter play mode and the Play Indicator will appear on the Digital Display (2). To stop play temporarily, press the Play/Pause button on 1989 units or the Play/Stop button on 1990-1992 units.
 
On 1989 units, the Pause Indicator will appear on the Digital Display (2) and there will be no sound. To stop play, press and hold down the Play/Pause button for 2 seconds. The Stop Indicator will appear on the Digital Display (2) and operation returns to radio or tape mode on the Cassette Player. To resume disc play, press the Play/Pause button again.
 
On 1990-1992 units, the Stop Indicator will appear on the Digital Display (2) and operation returns to radio or tape mode on the Cassette Player. To resume disc play, press the Play/Stop button again.
 
Note: If the ignition is turned off during play and then is set to the ON or ACC position within 15 seconds, the Compact Disc Player will resume playing in the mode it was in when the ignition was turned off. If the ignition is turned off for more then 15 seconds, the Compact Disc Player will be off the next time the ignition is turned on.

5) Automatic Music Search or Seek (AMS |<</>>| or Seek |<</>>|)

On 1989 units, the Automatic Music Search buttons allow you to move to the next or previous selection on the disc. Press the AMS > button to move to the beginning of the next track. Press again to move to the next track and so on. Press the AMS < button to move to the beginning of the current track. Press again to move to the beginning of the previous track and so on.
 
On 1990-1992 units, the Seek buttons allow you to move to the next or previous selection on the disc. Press the Seek > button to move to the beginning of the next track. Press again to move to the next track and so on. Press the Seek < button to move to the beginning of the current track. Press again to move to the beginning of the previous track and so on.

6) Reverse/Fast Forward (REW<< / FF>>)

On 1989 units, press Reverse to search backwards for a particular point in a selection. Release the button at the desired point, which can be found by either watching the elapsed playing time on the Digital Display (2), or by listening to the sound during reverse. When you have reached the beginning of track 1, the Compact Disc Player will begin playing. Press Fast Forward to search forwards for a particular point in a selection. Release the button at the desired point, which can be found by either watching the elapsed playing time on the Digital Display (13), or by listening to the sound during fast forward. When you have reached the end of the disc by holding down the Fast Forward button, the Digital Display (2) will show '--' and the Compact Disc Player will go into pause mode. Push the Reverse button to begin playing at the first track of the disc.
 
On 1990-1992 units, press Reverse to search backwards for a particular point in a selection. When the Reverse button is pressed and held down, the disc will be scanned in reverse at low speed for the first 3 seconds, then will switch to a higher speed after 3 seconds. Release the button at the desired point, which can be found by either watching the elapsed playing time on the Digital Display (2), or by listening to the sound during reverse. When you have reached the beginning of track 1, the Compact Disc Player will begin playing. Press Fast Forward to search forwards for a particular point in a selection. When the Fast Forward button is pressed and held down, the disc will be scanned forward at low speed for the first 3 seconds, then will switch to a higher speed after 3 seconds. Release the button at the desired point, which can be found by either watching the elapsed playing time on the Digital Display (13), or by listening to the sound during fast forward. When you have reached the end of the disc by holding down the Fast Forward button, the Digital Display (2) will show '--' and the Compact Disc Player will go into pause mode. Push the Reverse button to begin playing at the first track of the disc.

7) Restart (RESTART)

Press to return to the beginning of track 1 and begin pay.

8) Display (DISPLAY)

Press to change between the disc track numeral and the disc track elapsed time on the Digital Display (2).

9) Repeat Play Mode (REPEAT)

Press once to repeat the current track. Press again to repeat the entire disc.

10) Compression (COMP)

Due to the wide dynamic range of the Compact Disc Player, soft passages may be difficult to hear under certain driving conditions while maintaining a reasonable volume level in the louder passages. The Compression feature will bring these soft and loud passages closer together for a more consistent listening level. To turn the compression on, press the Compression button. Press again to turn off. When on, the Compression Indicator 'COMP' will appear on the Digital Display (2).

11) Shuffle Play Mode (SHUFFLE)

The Shuffle feature on the Compact Disc Player allows you to listen to the disc selections in a different ordered. When activated, the disc player will randomly select and play tracks on the disc. Press the Shuffle Play Mode button to turn it on, press it again to turn it off. When on, 'SHUF' will appear on the Digital Display (2).
