As long as the teeth are good, a used one will work just fine. I got a gt tranny that 2 and 3 were gone it and the clutch hub sleeve looked new and it had around 240k on the colck its was used for parts to fix my other trannys.

Hey guys, i finally got around to doing this on the probe. I actually went to the salvage yard first to see how difficult it would be to do before i messed with my daughters car.

it was actually quite easy to pop off the cover on the salvage one so i took some pictures of it and came home and messed with ours.

What i noticed on the difference between the salvage one and my daughters is that when i popped the cap off, A LOT of fluid came out.

When i popped the cover off my daughters, maybe about half a syringe (best i could describe) full came out.

Is this normal? also the fluid was pretty black almost dirty oil like substance.

I am enclosing some pictures of the gear that i took a few minutes ago. Before i place an order and spend a couple hundred dollars on the replacement, can someone tell me if this looks okay or what should be my next step.

Thanks again

post a pic of the half syncro, and if you realy want to be sure you need to pop off both nuts and the roll pin. once that off the silver part in pic 3 and 4 with the syncros on top and bottom that riding on the fork, thats the clutch sleve hub. On both sides are small little pointy teeth if you have no teeth replace that part. And what i posted was the olny info related to the fifth gear in the bible the bottom part of the page was about spliting the case.

5th gear dies when you're low on fluid. The clutch hub to fork gets excessive play from lack of lubrication.
Make sure it's properly filled after fixing it, or the problem will quickly return.

I use a 32mm on one and a 1" on the other..

Bending the tabs is very easily done with a punch and a hammer.

after 2 days of rain, I was finally able to complete this. The shift fork looks pretty bad and there are shavings as well. I have no idea about the other parts, but if someone could look at the pictures and tell me if i just need to replace the fork or do i order the other part as well. also some 3 small pins fell out of one of the housings gotta try and figure that out.
