Default tuning?!?

So I've been searching for method of tuning my probe and the only thing I seem to find is megasquirt. I've tried to find some more info on the forums about megasquirt but I keep getting lose ends and dead leads. Can someone give me a little in-depth description of it and what all I can do. I'm a noob so I wanna read as much as possible before I go out and blow up my probe.

And question I have is, since we have the same motor as the mazdaspeed protege, would it be possible to swap drivetrains between the two cars?

Megasquirt can be used to tune your fuel injectors, and if you get the megasquirt with the ignition option, it can be used to also control your spark. It can basically function as an stand-alone engine management system for the ford probe. It'd necessary for extreme modifications.
This link can help you understand megasquirt better: http://forums.probetalk.com/showthread.php?t=1701264837

Many parts off the protege will fit the probes.

thanks for the link. i wanted to go a little farther than just interchanging parts, and swap the entire engine and transmission over from the mazdaspeed protege, would that be possible

I'm not sure what kind of horsepower gains you would get from swapping that engine, but yes megasquirt can be used to control that engine. Exactly which protege engine are you talking about? There's a n/a one and a turbo one

if you're swapping everything then of course it can be done you just have to look at axle splines and where the axles will sit when in the trans, the only other thing you have to consider is sensor and plug ends. like i've said before, anything is possible with enough money, time, and patients.

The FS-DE, FS-ZE, and FS-DET all use the exact same transmission: The G15M-R. The exception is that the FS-DET is "supposed" to have a stock LSD installed, but I haven't been able to confirm it yet.

Yea, I came across a post of a guy on another forum stating that he had 2 of the msp lsd trannys, and busted both of them. He's making 250hp.. He also mentioned that for his third diff, he got a Quaife LSD installed and he's still torqueing on it now. Quaife definately makes some damn solid LSDs.
