Default Horsepower

what are some things you can do to a 1997 2.0 to get more horsepower out of it but still keeping it a daily driver? and to keep it on a buget?

Any Ideas?

Your never gonna keep it on a budget. Once you get the "need for speed" bug, your gonna wanna keep adding and adding.

it looks like u did some basic mods to ur engine already, according to your sig.

U can get a modified cam, upgrade ur ignition, or like probinator said, spray it.

Sell that and get a 2.5!

Just playin, but...

Upgrade the flywheel?

and you can get exhaust upgrades that still loesen up airflow and increase HP without sounding like a fart can.

Stage 1:Stock
118hp

Stage 2:Spark Plugs, Ignition Wires, Coil, Ignition System, Underdrive Pulley
125hp

Stage 3: High-Flow Air Filter, Air Ram/Cold Air Intake, Headers, Cat-Back Exhaust
135hp

Stage 4: Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator, Camshaft, Custom Computer Program, Cylinder Head Work
150hp

Stage 5: Cylinder Overbore, Engine Restroking, Turbocharger/Supercharger, Advanced Cylinder Head Work
250hp

Stage 6: Engine Blue-Printing, Aggressive Camshaft, Engine Management System, High-Boost Turbocharger/Supercharger.
400hp

Just took this from pps upgrade suggestions page. Only cause I can't link to it. So no one get pissed at me stealing it.

It's a pretty good list. If you are strapped for cash and slowly upgrading I suggest these first and roughly in this order.

Seafoam the Engine
Cold Air Intake
Performance Filters all around.
New Vacuum Tubing to eliminate any leaks.
Replace all gaskets and such to performance ones (or just higher quality new)
Performance Battery (I mean something NOT wal-mart brand)
Underdrive Pulley
Intake Mani. Port and Polish or ZE
Exhaust Mani.
Performance Spark Plug Wires
Performance Spark Plugs
Performance Fuel Pump
Exhaust System
Fuel Pressure Regulator (do it right, get good quality Fuel line replacements as well)

Thats Pretty Much my plan. I want to do non-invasive upgrades until I can afford the more epic ones. I already have done

SeaFoam
Cold Air Intake
New Vac. Tubing
New Performance Battery

You will not believe what replacing the Vac. Tubing can do for a car.
