It's the dipstick, Dipstick!
Driving home today, I noticed a hint of oil in the air. Thinking it was the clunker in front of me, I shrugged it off. The smell continued and it seemed to get worse, so when I got to my friend's house, I notice smoke from under the hood. Thinking, oh, tartar sauce...time for another turbo, I popped the hood to notice the dipstick wasn't all the way in.
Lesson for newbies (me included), make sure your dipstick is all the way in after checking the oil, or you'll be able to check it a lot easier when it's all over the motor in a fountain of lubrication.

Engine blow by will shoot your dipstick out too, if it happens again you may have a problem.

Hopefully that wasn't what caused it. The last thing I need is a motor that rejects its own dipstick, or a dipstick-missile.

Well...yeah....that, too. If it wasn't your motor, it'd just be neat for you to see. But....it is your motor, so that sucks. I tend to have a habit of saying this lately and it fits perfectly here: Better luck next time .

Cool..
So you have a high pressure air source. Did you know that .68 caliber paint balls just fit into 3/4" PVC water line? I'm thinking air pressure, a 12 volt sprinkler valve, some pressure hose, and a pipe full of paint balls could be very interesting. Following a dumb ass - No Problem, just decorate his back window.
Better yet, rebuild the engine, and get an air bottle got the under-bumper paint gun, and get out there & have some fun.
