Step 2: Installing The New Stereo Unit
  1. Mount the new stereo unit as the unit's instructions suggest.
  2. Connect the wiring as shown below:

Main Power (on with ignition) Blue/White
Clock/Memory Power (always on) Blue/Red
Ground * Black/Pink ¹

¹ Black/Blue on 1993 Probes
* NOTE: If the new stereo does not have a ground wire,
connect the stereo unit's metal chassis to the vehicle's chassis.

  1. Connect the antenna wire to the stereo unit.
  2. If your Probe has the premium sound system option and plan to use the factory amplifier with your new stereo unit, proceed to Step 3 before continuing.
  3. After all connections are completed and the new stereo unit is mounted, reinstall the interior trim.
  4. If your Probe had the premium sound system option and you do not plan to use the factory amplifier with your new stereo unit, you must bypass the amplifier completely. For instructions, proceed to Step 3.
