Remote Entry Transmitter Programming

Covers:

The remote entry system is an optional feature for '93-97 Probes. The system allows the user to unlock and lock the doors remotely using a transmitter. This transmitter also allows owners of vehicles equipped with anti-theft systems to arm and disarm the system.

The three buttons on the remote transmitter emit a radio frequency when pressed, known as the Transmitter Identification Code (TIC). The TIC is unique to each transmitter.

Overview

If a new transmitter is purchased, you will need to program the remote entry system's processor to learn the Transmitter Identification Code of the new transmitter. However, when the new code is programmed, all previous TICs will be erased, so all transmitters will need to be reprogrammed into the remote entry system's processor. Up to four transmitters can be programmed. Normally your Ford dealer will reprogram the remote entry system for you, but it can also be done yourself to save you some money.

Tools Required

Gain Access

    1. Remove the four subwoofer mounting bolts.
    2. Disconnect the electrical connector.
    3. Remove the subwoofer from the vehicle.
  2. Disconnect the trunk cover lift cords and remove the cover from the vehicle.

Programming

  1. Locate the Program Connector. It's a wire connector end that is not connected to any other connector or component. It has two wires: Blue/White and Blue/Green.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the 'ON' or 'ACC' position without starting the engine.
  3. Use a jumper wire to momentarily connect the two wires on the Program Connector. The doors will lock and unlock to indicate that the remote entry system processor is ready to be programmed.
  4. Press either the 'Lock' or 'Unlock' button on the first transmitter. The doors will lock and unlock to indicate that the TIC has been stored in the remote entry system processor.
  5. Repeat step 4 for each additional transmitter. Note: Up to four transmitters can be programmed into the remote entry system processor. Additional transmitters will be ignored.
  6. When all the transmitters have been programmed into the remote entry system processor, turn the ignition switch 'OFF'. Once the ignition is turned off, the doors will once again lock and unlock to indicate that the remote entry system processor has stored all the Tics from the transmitters.
