The
remote entry system is an optional feature for '93-97 Probes. The system allows
the user to unlock and lock the doors remotely using a transmitter. This transmitter
also allows owners of vehicles equipped with anti-theft systems to arm and disarm
the system.
The
three buttons on the remote transmitter emit a radio frequency when pressed,
known as the Transmitter Identification Code (TIC). The TIC is unique to each
transmitter.

Overview
If
a new transmitter is purchased, you will need to program the remote entry system's
processor to learn the Transmitter Identification Code of the new transmitter.
However, when the new code is programmed, all previous TICs will be erased,
so all transmitters will need to be reprogrammed into the remote entry
system's processor. Up to four transmitters can be programmed. Normally your
Ford dealer will reprogram the remote entry system for you, but it can also
be done yourself to save you some money.
